“International Conference of Digital Archives and Digital Humanities”, hereinafter referred to as DADH). Initiated by the Research Center for Digital Humanities of National Taiwan University in 2009, it has held thirteen annual academic conferences and is the earliest digital humanities-related international conference held in Asia. The research and development in the field of digital humanities in Taiwan is already well-known in the world. Over the years, DADH has gradually attracted the investment of relevant humanities and information researchers, and it is still in the ascendant. In this trend, DADH has also developed into an important seminar that attracts international attention. Each session attracts researchers from the United States, Germany, Britain, Japan, Singapore, and mainland China to participate. Even though the COVID-19 epidemic has been severe in the past three years, the Academia Sinica Center for Digital Cultures still hosted the 11th Annual Conference in the form of an online conference, which has received fruitful results and praise.
Initially, DADH was sponsored by National Taiwan University. Later, with the expansion of the digital humanities research community in Taiwan, digital humanities research methods gradually gained recognition in various fields. After the Taiwan Association for Digital Humanities (TADH) was established in 2016, DADH became the annual meeting of TADH and the most important annual gathering of the Taiwan Digital Humanities community. In 2017, the National Chengchi University was appointed to host the 8th DADH for the first time, and since then, it has started the practice of hosting meetings by different units every year. The 9th DADH hosted by Dharma Drum Institute of Liberal Arts in 2018; the 10th was National Taiwan Normal University in 2019; the 11th was Academia Sinica Center for Digital Cultures in 2020; the 12th was College of Liberal Arts, National Changhua University of Education in 2021; the 13th was College of Liberal Arts, National Chung Hsing University in 2022. In 2021 and 2022, DADH held in Central Taiwan. That was the first time outside of Taipei City, which symbolizes the promotion and development of digital humanities research across different regions and counties in Taiwan, which is of great significance.
The 14th DADH will be hosted by College of Liberal Arts, National Cheng Kung University. Department of Chinese Literature, NCKU and Center for Multi-cultural Studies, NCKU will be responsible for it. It is hoped that through the interaction and exchange of international experts and scholars from all walks of life at the conference, the digital humanities will be fully irrigated to the land of southern Taiwan, and more digital humanities research seeds will continue to bloom and bloom colorfully.
